Biography

Katrina Low-Beer, PT, DPT, ATP is an Associate Clinical Professor at Clarkson University in the Lewis School of Health Sciences; she served previously as an adjunct instructor. Before moving to academia full-time, they spent 7 years in clinical practice at a specialty hospital, working primarily with children and adults with childhood-onset disorders; a focus of this was related to positioning and adaptive equipment to facilitate engagement in the community and at home. They spent 4 years in part-time practice at an outpatient clinic incorporating equine movement with a similar patient population.

Research interests include: lifespan care for those with neurodevelopmental disabilities; equine movement as a treatment strategy; adaptive equipment and assistive technology; social and cognitive effects of institutionalized living and caregiving. She is a member of the Rehab Engineering Society of North America; American Physical Therapy Association (Neuro and Pediatric sections; Academy of Education); American Association on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities; American Hippotherapy Association.
