Knight Rider Bicycle Rental Program

If you live off campus, don’t own a car, or simply enjoy the physical and mental health benefits of riding a bicycle, then this program is for you!

The Knight Rider Bicycle Program is a Collaboration between the Institute for a Sustainable Environment & the Clarkson University Libraries. Bicycles are available for rent for the semester, at an affordable cost for students and faculty.

For additional information, please visit the Library Bike Rental page.

How do I sign up for a bike?

You can sign up for a bike for the summer semester, fall semester, or both using this Google Form. The rentals are on a first come first serve basis. When a bike is ready for you, you will be contacted via email by the Library with further instruction.

What's included in my rental?

  • We offer a wide selection of sizes. Most bikes include amenities such as front/rear racks, water bottle holder, kickstands, lights/reflectors, bells, etc.
  • Bikes are distributed on a first come first serve basis

- Bike lock and key to securely park your bike

- Helmet (optional, but recommended)

How much does it cost to rent a bike?

The rentals are for the semester – select Summer (May 11th- August 14th), Fall (August 21st- November 20th) or both (May 11th- November 20th).

  • $20 per semester (rental for both semesters is $40). We only rent the bikes on a semester basis.
    • Pay in cash at the library’s Circulation desk.
    • You will also need to sign a waiver, which is included on the Google Form sign up sheet.

Late Return Fee

If you fail to return your bike at the end of your rental period, you will be charged a late return fee. You will be allowed a 5-day grace period after your rental is due before you are charged. The cost of the late return fee is $20.

Bike Replacement Fee

You are responsible for the security of the bike while it is in your possession. If the bike is stolen, or damaged beyond repair, or you fail to return the bike for any reason, you will be charged a replacement fee for the bike. The cost of the bike replacement fee is $200.

How do I Return my Bike Rental?

All bike returns should be done in person, at the library circulation desk. You must return the bicycle to the covered bike rack outside the ERC, along with the bike lock and key. Please secure the bicycle to the rack using the provided bike lock, and return the key to the library circulation desk. Helmets should also be returned to the circulation desk. Do not leave the key and helmet if there is nobody at the circulation desk.
