Biography

I am the Education and Training Manager for the organization responsible for managing New York’s electric grid and its competitive wholesale electric marketplace. I have extensive instructional experience and industry expertise. Since December 2001, I have taught a variety of energy market courses, including wholesale energy sales and purchases; wholesale energy pricing methodology; market and cost based ancillary services geared towards energy grid reliability; installed capacity market; energy market hedging mechanisms; demand response and distributed energy resources; generation and transmission outage scheduling; wholesale energy financial settlements; and market monitoring processes.

Aside from my extensive energy markets instruction, from 2008 I have been an active participant on the ISO/RTO Training Council; sharing innovative instructional ideas with colleagues from across the country and parts of Canada. I am committee chair for the IEEE Power & Energy Society University Instructional Quality & Initiatives Committee; supporting the webinar offerings provided by PES through recommendations for content, establishing standards for content quality, establishing processes around content organization, review of content, and providing feedback to presenters on objectives and assessments. I have also lectured for Electric Utility Consultants, Inc. (EUCI) on best practices for educating stakeholders on wholesale energy financial settlements.
