Tentative Schedule of Events

Activities for family weekend 2018 are still being planned. The tentative schedule below will give you an idea of what to expect. A finalized schedule will be posted to this site by October 1st and printed, finalized schedules will be available at the Student Center Desk during Family Weekend.

Friday, October 19th, 2018

Visit the Student Center Desk to pick up an event schedule, campus map & ask questions. 

  • 10 a.m.-7 p.m. | Hockey Ticket Pick-up (Ticket Box Office, Cheel Campus Center) Pick up reserved hockey tickets. NOTE: If you did not purchase a ticket in advance, students and families will have to pay at the box office. Tickets for reserved seating are $13 and standing room tickets are $10. Students may sit in student section for free with ID Friday night game only. 
  • 3:30 p.m. | Women's Hockey vs. St. Lawrence University (St. Lawrence University, Canton)
  • 4:30-7 p.m. | Pre-Hockey Game Buffet (Cheel Barben Rooms) $16.39 plus tax
  • 5-11 p.m. | Club 99 Open (Next to Cheel Commons, Cheel) and Bar 9 Open (1st Floor, Student Center) Nonalcoholic and alcoholic beverages are available for sale.
  • 5-6:30 p.m. | Family Fun: Frozen Friday! (Student Center) Enjoy a screening of Disney's Frozen plus games, activities, and giveaways hosted by Residence Life, the Office of Student Life, and various student organizations. Get to know your student's Resident Advisor! It may be fall, but this free, ice-themed event will be a fun way for the whole family to get hyped for the men's and women's hockey games!
  • 7 p.m. | Men's Hockey vs. University of Wisconsin (Cheel Arena)  If you do not purchase a ticket in advance, students and families will have to pay at the box office. Tickets for reserved seating are $13 and standing room tickets are $10. Students may sit in student section for free with ID Friday night game only.

  • 8-9 a.m. | Clarkson School & Honors Program Continental Breakfast Reception (Cheel Barben Rooms)
  • 9 a.m.-2 p.m. | Trip with Clarkson University Outing Club to Azure Mountain (Meet in front of Cheel at 8:45, caravan departs at 9 a.m.) Weather permitting.
  • 9 a.m.-7 p.m. | Hockey Ticket Pick-up (Ticket Box Office, Cheel Campus Center) Pick up reserved hockey tickets. NOTE: If you did not purchase a ticket in advance, students and families will have to pay at the box office. Tickets for reserved seating are $13 and standing room tickets are $10. The entire arena is reserved seating and student ID is not valid for this game.
  • 11 a.m.-1 p.m. | Career Center Drop-In Hours (ERC 2nd floor) Meet the Career Center staff and ask questions! Learn about various services available to your students as well as professional experience opportunities including internships and co-ops.
  • 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. | Dr. Jim’s Chemistry Magic Show (Science Center 360) 
  • 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. | SPEED Team Demonstrations (Student Center Forum) Students have been hard at work on the Chem E Car and Robotics SPEED Teams (Student Projects for Engineering Experience & Design). Enjoy a live demonstration and learn more about their projects!
  • 11:30 a.m. | Family Fun: Build-A-Buddy (Student Center Multipurpose Rooms) Children can stuff their very own plush animal and decorate a t-shirt for it to wear! Free while supplies last!
  • 1 p.m. | Women's Volleyball vs. Skidmore College (Alumni Gymnasium)
  • 1:15-2 p.m. | Faculty Presentation: TBD (Snell 212)
  • 2-3 p.m. | Meet & Greet with Faculty & Staff (Student Center Bar 9/Java City) Meet the faculty that teach your student's classes! Chat with the staff who support your student on campus! Representatives from various departments will attend this social hour.
  • 2:30-3:30 p.m. | Studying and Interning Abroad: A Major Component of the Clarkson Experience (Snell 213) Learn how the program works and which universities and organizations we partner with to provide your students with quality international experiences.
  • 3 p.m. | Women's Soccer vs. Union College (Hantz Turf Field)
  • 3 p.m. | NCAA National Championship Banner Raising and Women's Hockey vs. St. Lawrence University (Cheel Arena) Tickets are $5 for adults, $3 for ages 8-14, and under 8 are free. Students enter free w/ Clarkson ID (one entry per CU ID).
  • 3:30-4:45 p.m. | Student Performances (Student Center Forum) Featuring performances by Clarkson Orchestra, Jazz Ensemble, Dance Ensemble, Golden Knotes, and Clarkson Goldies Dance Team!
  • 4:30-7 p.m. | Pre-Hockey Game Buffet (CAMP Atrium) $16.39 plus tax
  • 5-11 p.m. | Club 99 Open (Next to Cheel Commons, Cheel) and Bar 9 Open (1st Floor, Student Center) Nonalcoholic and alcoholic beverages are available for sale.
  • 5:15-5:45p.m. | Welcome from President Collins (Student Center Forum) President Collins will present current academic programs and curriculum innovations and introduce members of the Parents Committee.
  • 6–6:45 p.m. | Pep Rally (Student Center Forum) Get pumped up with the Clarkson Community for the Men’s Hockey game!  The Pep Band will perform as well as Clarkson student groups—come see who wins the prized Tommy Award for the best skit!
  • 7:30 p.m. | Men's Hockey vs. College of the Holy Cross (Cheel Arena) Tickets for reserved seating are $13 and standing room tickets are $10. Free open skating 40 minutes after the completion of the hockey game.
  • 9:00 p.m.  | Stand Up Comedy Performance: John Roberts, the voice of Linda on the hit TV show, Bob's Burgers (Student Center Forum) Sponsored by CUB.
