Raymond R. Andrews Award: Adarra Smith
This award is sponsored by friends and past students of Professor Ray Andrews. He taught CM223 for the majority of his 33 years at Clarkson. He was a teacher dedicated to his profession by remaining current with advancing technology, and also dedicated to the students, many of whom became personal friends.
Outstanding Senior Biomolecular Science Award: Shelby Alwine
The Outstanding Senior Award is given to a graduating senior Biomolecular Science major whose career at Clarkson has been exemplified by academic excellence as well as service to the division and University.
Frank C. Goodrich Memorial Fund Undergraduate Award: Megan McEwen
The Frank C. Goodrich Memorial Fund Undergraduate Award is given annually to a graduating senior Chemistry major whose career at Clarkson has been exemplified by the traditions of scientific and humanistic thought and inquiry that made Professor Goodrich an outstanding chemist, scholar, and human being.
Department of Chemistry & Biomolecular Science Academic Achievement Award: Elspeth Taylor, Hannah Yorkey, and Aria Belle
The Academic Achievement Award is presented in special recognition of exemplary academic performance and achievement in Biomolecular Science.
Edward D. Sayer Memorial Award: No 2021 - 2022 recipient
The Edward D. Sayer Memorial Award is awarded to a senior Chemistry or Biomolecular Science student who has demonstrated academic excellence, superior contributions as an undergraduate teaching assistant and will be entering a graduate/professional school following graduation from Clarkson. This award is in honor of Edward Sayer, Chemistry 2004, who, in spite of his struggle with illness, exhibited all of the above qualities.
The Gamma Sigma Epsilon George L. Jones Jr. Award: Holly Young
This award is sponsored by the chemical fraternity Gamma Sigma Epsilon and awarded to an outstanding Sophomore Chemistry major.
Dr. George L. Jones Jr. Memorial Scholarship Award: Jennifer O'Brien
This award recognizes an outstanding student in Physical Chemistry.
Department of Chemistry & Biomolecular Science Service Award: Elspeth Taylor
The Chemistry & Biomolecular Science Department Service Award is a special award established to recognize extraordinary service to the Department and is supported by the Department of Chemistry & Biomolecular Science.
The Brunauer Award: No 2019-2020 recipient
The Brunauer Award was established by the Department of Chemistry in 1973 in honor of Professor Stephen Brunauer, former chair of the Department and the first director of Clarkson’s Institute of Colloid and Surface Science, and one of the world’s most eminent and most respected chemists. It is awarded on Commencement day to a graduating senior who has written an outstanding senior thesis in chemistry, and it is the highest professional honor that the department can bestow.
Northern New York Section of the American Chemical Society Award: Megan McEwen
The Northern New York Section of the American Chemical Society Award is awarded to an outstanding senior Chemistry major.
The Department of Chemistry and Biomolecular Science Freshman Award: Matthias Schmidt
The award recognizes an outstanding freshman student in the Department of Chemistry and Biomolecular Science.
The Stig E. Friberg Award for Undergraduate Research: Zach Goad
The Stig E. Friberg Award for Undergraduate Research will be bestowed upon a junior or senior showing excellent academic achievement who is conducting original research and has either been published or has a clear path to publication. The Award is made possible by the generous support of Stig’s past students and collaborators.
Egon Matijević Endowed Chemistry Scholarship: Matthias Schmidt, Madison Sesnie, John Carlson, Cheyenne Burnside, Bailey Brennen, Danna Wang
The award was established in 1988 in honor of Dr. Egon Matijevic’, Clarkson’s Distinguished University Professor, for his enormous contribution to the scientific community around the globe and for his exemplary service to the Department of Chemistry & Biomolecular Science, the Center for Advanced Materials Processing, and the entire University. The award recognizes an outstanding undergraduate student in the Department of Chemistry & Biomolecular Science with a scholarship, which is renewable up to four years during the student’s undergraduate study at Clarkson.
GRADUATE AWARDS
Outstanding Graduate Teaching Assistant Award: Kyle Cassidy
The Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award is given to a graduate Teaching Assistant in the Department of Chemistry & Biomolecular Science who has demonstrated teaching excellence and high productivity in their research while maintaining an exemplary academic record.
Outstanding Graduate Student Award: Daniel Massana Roquero
The Outstanding Graduate Student Award is given to an exceptional graduate student in the Department of Chemistry & Biomolecular Science to honor their significant and outstanding research and scholarly contributions.
Dr. Petr Zuman Award in Chemistry: Reem Khan
This award is to celebrate Dr. Petr Zuman's significant influence on, and contribution to his students, colleagues, the field of chemistry and Clarkson University. Given to a graduate chemistry student annually in support of their participation in conferences, workshops and sumposia, to support professional experience and development.
