Biography

Steven F. (Steve) Marsh has been an adjunct instructor in the Clarkson University David D. Reh School of Business since 2003, teaching both undergraduate and graduate courses in Quality Management & Lean Enterprise, Operations & Supply Chain Management, and Advanced Project Management. He is also a Clarkson alumnus, earning a B.S. in Interdisciplinary Engineering & Management in 1990 and M.S. in Engineering and Manufacturing Management in 2000.

Throughout his 35 years in manufacturing, Steve has gained practical experience in the medical device, telecommunications, aluminum, aerospace, and nuclear industries, holding leadership positions in quality, lean operations, and process improvement. He currently serves as a Continuous Improvement Senior Specialist at the Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, TN. From 2004-2008, he served as director of graduate and undergraduate programs at Clarkson University and was influential in integrating classroom and distance-learning based education for working professionals.

Steve is a Certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt and a Senior Member and Certified Quality Engineer with the American Society for Quality. He co-authored The Executive Guide to Understanding and Implementing Lean Six Sigma (ASQ Quality Press, 2007) and his areas of specialization include Six Sigma, Lean operations, and process improvement.

Steve and his wife, Charity, are both natives of Massena, NY and currently reside in Knoxville, TN. They are the proud parents of four adult children and two granddaughters. Outside the classroom, Steve can be found on the golf course, serving his church, woodworking in the garage, or cheering for the UT Volunteers, Nashville Predators, and Tennessee Titans.
