My name is John DeJoy. I am an Associate Professor of Accounting in the School of Business at Clarkson University's Capital Region Campus which is located in Schenectady, NY. I began teaching college and graduate students in 1992. I taught my first completely online course in 1994. I travel nationally and internationally presenting pedagogy workshops that have helped hundreds of accounting professors to improve their teaching skills.
I love helping students learn. I consider it a privilege to teach. I am excited to be teaching the bright and accomplished graduate and undergraduate students here at Clarkson.
I have been teaching at Clarkson (nee' Union Graduate College) since September 2012. Before Clarkson, I worked as an accounting professor at Siena College in Loudonville, NY.
My professional experience includes working as an auditor for Deloitte, which is one of the Big Four accounting firms, and as an accountant with IBM. I hold state licensure as a CPA in New York (active license) and Idaho. My management experience includes eight years working as a manager with 30 professionals reporting to me from multiple locations. I worked as a dean of a graduate school with 2,000 students and $14 million in revenue.
I teach professors how to teach. By invitation of the American Accounting Association, the Canadian Academic Accounting Association, the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology, and the Chartered Accountants Education Fund (Canada) I offer professional development pedagogy workshops that are designed to enhance the teaching skills of hundreds of accounting professors in the US and Canada. I coach select faculty as well. I led workshops in Toronto, New York City, Boston, Chicago, Edmonton, and St. John's Newfoundland.
