Members of Biochemistry and Proteomics Laboratories at Clarkson attend Eastern Analytical Symposium
Members of the Biochemistry and Proteomics Laboratories, led by Clarkson University Professor of Chemistry and Biomolecular Science Costel C. Darie, attended the Eastern Analytical Symposium, held at the Princeton Crowne Plaza from November 12 to 15 in Plainsboro, NJ. The Eastern Analytical Symposium is one of the largest conferences from the East Coast that covers the field of chemistry.
“The members of our lab are well represented, as it always was”, said Darie. “We have four graduate students, Danielle Whitham, Taniya Jayaweera, Aneeta Arshad, and Pathea Bruno; four undergraduate students, Logan Seymour, Hailey Morrissiey, Krish Weraduwage, and Norman Haaker; and two high school students, Nina Hukovic and Celeste A. Darie that attended the meeting.”
Whitham, Jayaweera, Arshad, Bruno, Seymour, Morrissiey and Haaker delivered a total of eight oral presentations, and five poster presentations were given by Hukovic, Darie, Whitham, Weraduwage and Jayaweera. This was the first trip to the Eastern Analytical Symposium for most of the students, and several were attending a conference for the first time.
“I am excited to be here, on my first conference as an undergraduate student”, said Morrissiey who is also an Honors student at Clarkson and the newest undergraduate student in Darie Labs. “I believe that it is a very good practice to be exposed to other peers.”
In addition to attending the conference, Danielle Whitham, who is a Ph.D. candidate, was also the recipient of the Eastern Analytical Symposium Graduate Student Award.
