Dale Fournier Appointed Clinical Assistant Professor of Physical Therapy at Clarkson University
Dale E. Fournier has been appointed clinical assistant professor of physical therapy in the Lewis School of Health Sciences at Clarkson University.
Fournier completed post-secondary education at the University of Western Ontario in London, ON, Canada. He earned a Bachelor of Science with Honors Specialization in Kinesiology, a Master of Science in Anatomy and Cell Biology with a collaborative specialization in musculoskeletal health research, and also completed the combined Master of Physical Therapy and Doctor of Philosophy in Health and Rehabilitation Sciences (Physical Therapy, Musculoskeletal Health Research).
Fournier focuses his research in the field of musculoskeletal health, with a specific interest in spine health. His background in transdisciplinary health research inspires knowledge translation from the laboratory to the clinic to inform current practice, and vice versa. He is particularly interested in the use of medical imaging to inform physical therapy practice and to better understand the clinical experience in physical therapy. Much of his current research focuses on a common yet poorly understood musculoskeletal condition that involves ectopic mineralization of the spine called diffuse idiopathic skeletal hyperostosis.
Fournier has received several awards, including the Young Investigator Award from the Bone and Joint Institute and the Dr. Suzanne Bernier Award in Skeletal Biology, among others. Prior to joining the clinical faculty at Clarkson, he served as an award-winning graduate teaching assistant at The University of Western Ontario.
