The Melissa A. Walsh Memorial Scholarship honors the life and legacy of Clarkson alumna Melissa Walsh ’03, ’05, whose compassion, professionalism and dedication to others continue to inspire future generations of physical therapists. Established by her family and friends, the scholarship recognizes students who embody those qualities and demonstrate a strong commitment to the physical therapy profession.

Knowles, a member of Clarkson’s Doctor of Physical Therapy Class of 2028, was selected for his passion for physical therapy, commitment to patient care, professionalism and strong relationships with peers and faculty. Before enrolling in Clarkson’s DPT program, he earned degrees in health and fitness promotion and physical therapist assistant studies from SUNY Canton and became a licensed physical therapist assistant.

“As someone who has experienced rehabilitation firsthand, Caleb brings a unique level of empathy and understanding to patient care,” said Jaime Bicknell, PT, DPT, director of clinical education in Clarkson University’s Doctor of Physical Therapy Program. “His dedication to serving others, commitment to lifelong learning and passion for physical therapy embody the qualities this scholarship was created to recognize.”

Knowles said receiving the scholarship is both an honor and a meaningful milestone in his academic journey.

“I am deeply humbled and honored to have been selected as the recipient of the Melissa A. Walsh Memorial Scholarship,” Knowles said. “I attribute this accomplishment to the many individuals who have supported me throughout my journey toward becoming a doctor of physical therapy. This scholarship provides meaningful financial support as I continue my education, and for that I am truly grateful.”
