

This course will introduce you to strategic planning and its application to the workplace environment. Strategic planning is a tool that is used by leaders to define the vision and required supporting goals and executable actions for the business or organization.
The output of the strategic planning process is the strategic plan which is the document and plan of record that is used to cascade the goals and required actions to the entire organization. Most frequently the strategic plan covers a 3-5 year period. The strategic plan may be slightly or significantly modified within this planning horizon based on changing business conditions and trends.
As a participant, you will:
- Explain the five steps of the strategic planning process.
- Identify the benefits of strategic planning.
- Apply the strategic planning process to a manufacturing process.
- Demonstrate the use of Key Process Indicators (KPIs) and their supporting metrics to manage tactical execution against the strategic plan.
- Explain Michael Porter's competitive strategy model.
- Analyze strategic plan content to determine thoroughness.
