How Clarkson is responding to COVID-19

Clarkson is closely monitoring the evolving COVID-19 situation and updating its base of emergency protocols to take additional steps to keep students, faculty, and staff safe. Health experts and emergency preparedness officials are working with regional and New York State health organizations to monitor the local impact of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

Nationally and globally, the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and World Health Organization (WHO) continue to address the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and share best practices.

President Tony Collins has activated the University Emergency Response Team to review and revise existing plans related to this kind of issue and to plan for contingencies, including campus emergency operations, employee management, student support, travel, campus events, and summer and alternative programs for students who are impacted by travel restrictions.

Clarkson is now implementing social distancing on all of its campuses.  Please continue to exercise good personal health practices and take everyday preventive actions to stop the spread of germs. This includes:

  • Washing hands often with soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds. Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer if soap and water are not available.

  • Avoid touching eyes, nose or mouth with unwashed hands.

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.

  • Seek medical attention if you are sick and limit contact with others.
