Career

From 1998 to 2014, Dr. Cannon held various engineering and management positions, becoming a global leader at ExxonMobil. She worked in research and engineering, aviation fuels marketing, marine transportation optimization, logistics, business development, environmental compliance, and refining. Prior to leaving ExxonMobil, Dr. Cannon was named Americas Compliance Advisor she set the strategic direction in managing the quality and regulatory compliance of clean and renewable fuels.
From 2014-2018, Dr. Cannon served as General Manager for fuel logistics and quality assurance for Delta Air Lines. She led the acquisition of crude oil vessels and created the jet fuel automation system. She served as Jet Fuel Quality Compliance Advisor for multiple aviation agencies including the FAA and IATA, leading Global Crude Strategist & Marine Charterers in Delta Air Lines
Entrepreneur
Dr. Cannon has been an entrepreneur for more than seven years. In 2012, she founded Melanina LLC, the parent company for Melanina Organics and Melaland Adventures. These two companies focus on children’s health and beauty and provide educational entertainment for children ages 2-12. Dr. Cannon has formulated over 10 personal care products for Melanina Organics with an eye towards solving the problems of atopic dermatitis (eczema) and seborrheic dermatitis.
Education
Dr. Cannon received a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Clarkson University in 1997. She earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from University of Maryland in College Park in 2002 and earned a Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA) from Georgia State University 2019. She is a published author of research studies on career mindsets and entrepreneurial psychology.
Clarkson University Board of Trustees Affiliation
Simoon was elected to the Clarkson University Board of Trustees in October 2019. She serves on the Academic Mission and People Priorities Committees.

Personal
Dr. Cannon lives in Fayetteville, Georgia with her husband Timothy. They have two children; a son Yanni and daughter Chaya. She enjoys travelling, reading, dancing and experimenting with new innovation and technologies.
