Patricia Rand is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Education at Clarkson University’s Capital Region Campus. She has been with Clarkson University for 3 years, after 15 years of teaching English at the high school level. She is a National Board Certified Teacher, placing her among 3% of the national teaching force with this elite distinction.
Her bachelor’s degree in English and Master of Arts in Teaching English are both from Quinnipiac University, and she is a doctoral candidate in Literacy Teaching and Learning at the University of Albany. Her research interests include adolescent literacy, the transformative nature of literature, discourse, teacher preparation, and education reform.
Ms. Rand teaches courses in disciplinary literacy, poetry, and professionalism in teaching in Clarkson’s Master of Arts and Teaching program, and STEM Literacy and Teaching Lab in the Summer Institute for Early Career Teaching. She also supervises residents, advises English MAT candidates, and oversees service learning.
