Q: Is there adequate parking on campus?
A: Yes. Students will always find parking, even though it may not always be as close to their campus residence as they would prefer. Parking adjustments are made each year to accommodate increases or decreases in vehicle registrations.
Q: How much is the fee to register a vehicle?
A: It's free! We just ask that everyone registered their vehicle and respects the parking rules and regulations.
Q: Can first-year students bring a car?
Q: Is the campus really safe?
A: Yes. Particularly when you compare Clarkson's crime rate to other colleges and universities of similar size, our crime rate is relatively low. This is primarily due to Clarkson's location and the team approach fostered by the University, which empowers every member of the campus community as an active part of the campus safety initiative. Campus Safety employs 9 full-time & 4 Part Campus Safety & Security Officers, each certified by the State of New York as Security Officers. Officers patrol the campus 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. In accordance with the Jeanne Clery Act (formerly the Student Right to Know Act of 1990) the University provides information related to crime statistics and security measures to all members of the campus community. All matriculated students and all employees are mailed yearly the most current statistics as part of a comprehensive brochure on working together for a safe campus. Prospective students are mailed this information upon request.
Q: What is Clarkson doing to prepare in the event of an active shooter?
A: The University and Safety & Security work closely with local law enforcement to provide education and training on prevention, awareness, communication and best safety practices. We continue to strive toward a campus that is vigilant, aware and safe.
Q: Does Clarkson have emergency notification system?
A: Clarkson utilizes the RAVE Alert emergency notification system where texts and emails are sent to the entire university community alerting of a campus emergency event.
