PA Student Society
The Clarkson University Physician Assistant Student Society (CU PASS) is dedicated to healthcare within the community of Potsdam, NY & St. Lawrence County as a whole. We recognize that learning takes place both in & outside of the classroom, and we strive to strengthen our activity within the community. Making the Physician Assistant Program well known within Potsdam as forming both knowledgeable as well as compassionate and empathetic providers is our aspiration, and being the first class of the program, we are certainly taking strides to make this goal a reality. In our inaugural year, we have reached out to Hospice of St. Lawrence County, and are currently working to promote community health awareness and preventative medicine. We are currently working to raise funding for various community health care initiatives as well planning for an international mission trip, where students will be able to bring medicine and treatment to the people of the Dominican Republic in March, 2015. Last year's mission trip to the Dominican Republic was a great success with over 300 patients seen in 5 days.
The Clarkson University Physician Assistant Student Society (Clarkson PASS) mission statement is to serve as the official organization for the students of the Clarkson University Physician Assistant Program, to promote academic achievement and clinical excellence, to promote the physician assistant as a member of the health care delivery team, and to help better the local community by giving of its time and service. Over the past year, Clarkson PASS has participated in many community service events, including a food drive for Helping Hands of Potsdam Food Pantry, landscaping at Hospice, volunteering for Swim a Mile for Hospice, Holiday Fund Gift Wrapping, local blood pressure screenings, and Relay For Life. The Clarkson PASS is constantly looking for new ways to serve the local community.
