Suguang Xiao has been appointed assistant professor of civil & environmental engineering at Clarkson University.
He received his Ph.D. from Lehigh University, his master of science from Tongji University and his bachelor of science from Chang’an University, all in civil engineering.
Xiao's research interests include dynamic behaviors of foundations for wind turbines, soil-structure interaction of geothermal energy piles, heat transfer simulation of bridge deicing using geothermal energy, energy storage, and discrete element method simulation of clayey soils.
He has published in Journal of Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Engineering, Geotechnical Testing Journal, Journal of Applied Meteorology and Climatology, Soils and Foundations, Journal of the Transportation Research Board, Cold Regions Science and Technology, and Energy and Buildings, among other publications, as well as in conference publications, and conference papers and technical reports.
Xiao also serves as a reviewer for several national and international journals such as Journal of Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Engineering, Journal of Cold Regions Engineering, Energy, and Geomechanics for Energy and the Environment.
He previously served as a research associate at the University of Oklahoma and Lehigh University.
