Tyson Mackey has been appointed assistant professor of strategy at Clarkson University's David D. Reh School of Business.
He received both his bachelor of science degree in economics and his MBA from Brigham Young University and his Ph.D. in business policy and strategy from the Ohio State University. His dissertation was awarded the Booz Allen Hamilton/SMS Ph.D. Fellowship and honorable mention for the SMS Best Conference Paper Prize.
His research interests are corporate social responsibility, corporate strategy, entrepreneurship, strategic human capital, and strategic management.
His research focuses on pushing the boundaries of research methodology in strategic management -- particularly in the areas of corporate diversification and corporate social responsibility.
Before coming to Clarkson, Mackey was a visiting scholar at the David Eccles School of Business, at the University of Utah. Prior to that, he was assistant professor at Orfalea College of Business at California Polytechnic State University and visiting assistant professor at Mays Business School at Texas A&M University.
His recent honors include Best Paper BPS Division, Academy of Management (Sumantra Ghoshal Research & Practice Award), 2013; and the Orfalea College of Business Summer Research Grant, 2008 and 2011.
Mackey has written numerous articles for refereed and other publications, in addition to providing editorial services to professional journals. He has delivered conference talks and was an invited speaker at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign; Washington University-St. Louis; Texas A&M University; California Polytechnic State University; James Madison University; UCLA; and Clarkson.
