Clarkson University is going underground to test for COVID-19 on its campus and at other institutions in the region. Shane Rogers, a professor of civil and environmental engineering at Clarkson, and his team are testing the wastewater for SARS-CoV-2 on the Potsdam campus, and others in the area. They have recently installed sampling equipment and have begun collecting wastewater samples from the sewage network.
“Detection in sewage provides an indicator of potential new cases on campus and provides another layer of security in the network of protective measures that we have employed,” Rogers said.
To learn more about this project, please join Professor Rogers and President Tony Collins for a virtual news conference on Friday, October 6 at 1:00 p.m. Click here for the Zoom link.
