Clarkson University Ranked Among the Nation’s Best by U.S. News & World Report and by College Factual

Release Date
Monday September 20, 2021
Snell Hall

U.S. News & World Report 2022 Best Colleges has once again ranked Clarkson University in tier one, the top tier of national universities. Clarkson is again in the top 150 institutions in the nation.

Higher education data and analytics company College Factual also ranked Clarkson in the top 10% of all schools in the nation in their 2022 Best Schools Ranking. Clarkson was rated #17 Best Engineering Technologies Schools, and #39 Best Allied Health Professions Schools. The company ranked Clarkson highly in numerous degree categories including entrepreneurial studies, education, psychology, business, and accounting.

For this edition, U.S. News surveyed nearly 1,500 U.S. bachelor's degree-granting institutions on 17 measures of academic quality. Schools in the "National Universities" category, like Clarkson, offer a full range of undergraduate majors, master's, and Ph.D. programs and recognize faculty research as part of strengthening the rigor of the educational experience for students.

Clarkson ranks highly in undergraduate business programs and the percentage of freshmen in the top 25% of their high school graduating class also rose from 2021.

Clarkson is also on the U.S. News "Great Schools, Great Prices" list (Best Value Schools), which takes into account a school's academic quality, as indicated by its U.S. News Best Colleges ranking, and the 2021-2022 net cost of attendance for a student who received the average level of need-based financial aid through scholarships and aid.  The higher the quality of the program and the lower the cost, the better the deal.

The survey editors also placed Clarkson University in the "A+ Options for B Students" list, which they identify as strongly rated schools that accept students who have potential and will work hard.

Clarkson is among the top 10 four-year colleges in the nation adding the most value to student earnings potential, according to value-added college rankings from the Brookings Institution, which look at colleges' direct contributions to alumni salaries. The report says that getting your degree from Clarkson University can increase your earnings by 42 percent, putting this research university in the top 10 ROIs nationwide.

Of students graduating in Clarkson’s Class of 2020 and using the campus Career Services Center, 97 percent reported being placed in a career related to their chosen field of study and goals in the first six months after graduation and putting them on a path for accelerated career success. Graduates earn salaries among the top 2 percent in the nation.

Clarkson is in good company in the top tier undergraduate rankings as well as the Best Value Schools category, which it shares with schools like Harvard, Princeton, Yale, MIT, Stanford, Cal Tech and Duke.

As a private, national research university, Clarkson is a leader in technological education and sustainable economic development through teaching, scholarship, research and innovation. We ignite personal connections across academic fields and industries to create the entrepreneurial mindset, knowledge and intellectual curiosity needed to innovate world-relevant solutions and cultivate the leaders of tomorrow. With its main campus located in Potsdam, N.Y., and additional graduate program and research facilities in the New York Capital Region, Beacon, N.Y., and New York City, Clarkson educates 4,600+ students across 95 rigorous programs of study in engineering, business, the arts, education, sciences and health professions. Our alumni earn salaries that are among the top 2.5% in the nation and realize accelerated career growth. One in five already leads as a CEO, senior executive or owner of a company.
