Clarkson University is one of the nation's best colleges for students seeking great academics, outstanding career preparation, and generous financial aid -- according to The Princeton Review.
Clarkson is one of the schools that the education services company profiles in the new 2018 edition of its book Colleges That Pay You Back: The 200 Schools That Give You the Best Bang for Your Tuition Buck. Clarkson is also featured on The Princeton Review's site at https://www.princetonreview.com/college-rankings/colleges-that-pay-you-back.
The Princeton Review selected these schools based on a comprehensive analysis of more than 650 colleges that weighted more than 40 data points to tally return on investment (ROI) ratings for the schools. Data analyzed covered academics, cost, financial aid, graduation rates, student debt and more.
The company collected that data from its 2016-17 surveys of administrators and students at the schools. It also factored in data from PayScale from their online compensation survey on starting and mid-career salaries of alumni of the schools.
“Only 7 percent of the nation’s four-year colleges made it into this book,” noted Robert Franek, its lead author, and The Princeton Review’s Editor-in-Chief. “These schools were bona fide standouts for the return they deliver on one’s college investment. They offer stellar academics, generous aid awards to students with need and/or merit, and provide all of their undergrads with career services from day one plus a lifetime of alumni connections.”
Clarkson’s innovative new Lewis Income Share Agreement (LISA) is another way that the University reduces the upfront costs of college and pays its students back by having skin in the game, too. Students who receive LISA funding get additional career advising support and in exchange agree to pay a portion of their salary after graduation for a set period of time. Both the students and the University work together to make them the most marketable and prepared future employees they can be. This program also helps students eliminate private or parent PLUS loans.
