Vicki LaFay, clinical associate professor and chair of Clarkson’s Physical Therapy Department, was recently selected to serve on the Reference Committee for the American Council of Academic Physical Therapy (ACAPT) for a three-year term.
LaFay was appointed based on nomination from the outgoing Reference Committee Chair and the current committee and was endorsed and approved by the ACAPT Board.
“An opportunity to play a role at the national level for matters important to PT education - it is part of professional service and responsibility to the profession that is impactful and personally and professionally fulfilling,” LaFay said.
In her role, LaFay will work with the reference committee to receive and correlate motions and resolutions to be presented at the ACAPT Annual Meeting and identify motions which fall outside the object or functions of ACAPT. The committee is also responsible for providing counsel on form, wording, and method of presentation of matters to be presented at the ACAPT Annual Meeting, receiving motions and resolutions and being in attendance at the ACAPT Annual Meeting to reply to inquiries directed at the committee.
LaFay is the current Practice Committee Chair for the American Physical Therapy Association - New York chapter and also serves as a member of the association’s nominating committee. Previously, she has served as a board member for the ACAPT National Consortium of Clinical Educators and as chair of the ACAPT Common Terminology in Clinical Education taskforce, as well as other national workgroups and task forces.
ACAPT represents over 92% of all US accredited PT programs, serves to promote excellence in PT Education and is the principal voice representing academic physical therapists nationally.
