Veterans Student Success Program

Clarkson University has once again been named a military friendly school. This puts Clarkson in the top 15% of America’s colleges, universities and trade/vocational schools that offer the best support, flexibility and value for active duty military and veterans pursuing an education.

In 2009, Clarkson University became a Yellow Ribbon school, providing full tuition benefits to qualifying post-9/11 veterans and eligible dependents of military personnel, and we are excited to continue this program into the upcoming academic years.

Clarkson University's Veterans Affairs Certifying Official, located in Student Administrative Services, is here to help any eligible student take advantage of their educational benefits.

To further support our veterans, the Veterans Student Success Program was created to support those students from the admissions process to career placement. This program has additional assistance from identified advocates in accommodative services, admissions, academic advising, counseling, financial aid, and international studies. The Veteran Student Success Program is designed as a bridge program, helping our veterans adjust from military to civilian life in an environment that is safe, accepting and appreciative of our veteran students.

The advocates serve as primary points of contacts for veterans and are trained to create a safe space if needed. Our veteran students can feel at home in our veterans lounge, a great place for our commuter students to store items from home and to work on assignments and spend time with other veterans.

In addition, partnerships have been established where our veterans can gain valuable experiences working in the local community. In return, our local community has different appreciation days to show its commitment to our veteran students. We value the experiences that veterans bring, both in and out of the classroom.
