Requirements

Students must demonstrate that they have completed the following requirements to progress into the graduate MOT program:

  • Bachelor's degree with an overall GPA of at least 3.0 
  • All prerequisite courses with a GPA of at least 3.0
  • All prerequisite coursework with a grade of C or higher
  • Submit documentation of a minimum of 40 hours of observation/volunteer work or work experience under the supervision of an occupational therapist or occupational therapy assistant.
  • Submit three letters of recommendation. At least one from a faculty member from a university or college who can speak to your academic or professional character, and at least one letter must be from an occupational therapy professional.
  • Ensure the technical standards can be met
  • All documentation must be submitted by the student
  • At the end of each academic year, you must meet with either the OT Department Chair or an OT faculty member

Prerequisites

The following prerequisite courses must be successfully completed within 10 years in order to be considered for admissions to the Master's in Occupational Therapy program:

  • Cellular and Molecular Biology/Lab (Clarkson course: BY160/BY162); 5 credits
  • Human Anatomy and Physiology I/Lab (Clarkson course: BY471/BY473); 5 credits
  • Human Anatomy and Physiology II/Lab (Clarkson course: BY472/BY474); 5 credits
  • Statistics (Clarkson course options: STAT282, STAT284, STAT318, STAT383); 3 credits
  • General Psychology (Clarkson course: PY151); 3 credits
  • Developmental Psychology (Clarkson course: PY370); 3 credits
  • Abnormal Psychology (Clarkson course: PY462); 3 credits
  • English Composition (several course options); 3 credits
  • Social Sciences (several course options); 3 redits
  • Kinesiology or Physics course (Clarkson course options: BY428 Kinesiology or PH131/PH141 Physics I with Lab); 3-4 credits
