Hello everyone! My name is Matt Miller and I am a junior majoring in Aeronautical and Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Project Management. As some of you already know, I am running for the position of Senator for the upcoming Senior Class.

As a current member of the CUSA Senate, and the Academic Affairs Committee I have helped to implement major positive changes within Clarkson. I worked alongside the Academic Affairs Committee (AAC) in amending the new Clarkson grading system so that it properly reflects the students’ performance in their courses. I, along with the AAC, created a survey to receive student input in what projects and issues need to be amended. The CUSA and all its committees exist to work with the students to better their experience and make lasting positive changes. As a CUSA Senator, I feel that student engagement is vital, and welcome any students who wish to have their voice heard. I am very open-minded and want to work with students and hear their opinions on what needs to be improved in order to make everyone’s experience here at Clarkson the best it can be.

If you have any questions or suggestions for me, feel free to reach out to me via email millermr@clarkson.edu, or in person.

I would really appreciate your support and vote in the election!

Representing the class of 2017 throughout the 2014-2015 academic year has taught me a great deal. Meeting with students, faculty, and administration has helped me better understand what Clarkson is about and the goals of the school. I would be more than honored to have the opportunity to be a CUSA Senator in the 2015-2016 academic year. It will allow me to apply the knowledge and skills I have acquired over the year and to become a more effective leader around campus. I am confident that I can represent the university and my peers to the best of my ability.

Krissy Govertsen Class Senator

In high school I held several leadership positions. Since attending Clarkson, I have served on The Clarkson School’s Council and as TCS’s Representative in the CUSA Senate, where I collaborated, and voted, on many issues. I was also on the Student Activities Committee, and volunteered for various activities. If re-elected I will ensure every student, Greek, non-Greek, a part of a small, or large club, will be treated and voted for equally. Everyone pays the same activity fee, and should be treated as equals. This way all parts of our diverse community benefit from CUSA, the student organization governing body.

There are three characteristics that make me want to run for student senate. Those qualities are devotion, loyalty, and honesty. I hold Clarkson, and especially our class of 2018, in high regard because you all are my family. You are the people I talk, learn, laugh, and eat with every day, and for that I could never thank you all enough. Because of this I feel highly devoted to the betterment of our class as well as keeping our classes wants in mind when making decisions. I hope to be the best representative for our class that I can be.

jillian.jpg

My name is Jillian Taylor and I would like to be a CUSA senator for a variety of reasons. First of all, I believe I can continue to be a great asset to the Clarkson community. I have been involved in student government for four years now, including this past year on the CUSA Senate. I love to be involved in as much on campus as possible. I enjoy being able to talk to my friends to see what they would like to see on campus and then making that a reality. So far this past year I have worked on the petition to reevaluate the grading system and I am leading a project to formulate a biology for engineers program.  I want to be part of the CUSA Senate and leave campus a little better than when I arrived.
