We all have a purpose. What’s yours?
Clarkson is for students who know their purpose or who are looking to find it. Maybe it's helping find ways to detect breast cancer earlier, creating the latest fragrance for a leading cosmetics company, or managing a Fortune 500 company. Maybe it's designing the next must-have video game, becoming your hometown's newest start-up company, or discovering the latest form of renewable energy. Whatever your purpose - discover it, pursue it and position yourself to ignite it at Clarkson.

Undergraduate Admissions Deferral Policy
Clarkson allows any student who has paid their enrollment deposit to defer entry for one year at a time (gap year) for reasons such as athletics, health, military service, community service, travel and work. The deferral may be renewed for a second year.
Requests to defer must be received by July 1 and submitted to the VP of Enrollment & Student Advancement, Brian Grant at bgrant@clarkson.edu, with the request. Students who choose this option commit to attending Clarkson in the year after the gap year. Students also agree not to apply to other colleges during the gap year.
Students may take courses at another institution, but must not be fully matriculated. Applicants for financial aid must submit the FAFSA by February 15 of the gap year. If a student’s financial situation is similar from year to year so is the financial aid awarded. Merit scholarships are guaranteed at the same level for the following year.
