Google Chat for Online Conference
In order to do an online conference with us, you will need the following items:
1. Your own Gmail account
2. Google chat installed on your web browser.
3. A microphone built into your laptop/computer or a headset with mic or just a mic and a pair of speakers
Installing Google Chat on your Web Browser (From your Gmail page)
o On the left had side you will see a chat area. Click “Add Contact.”
o A small box with appear to the right of where you are typing. Click “Invite to Chat.”
o A popup will appear. Enter in: CUWCenter@gmail.com
o Click “Send invite”
We will accept the chat invitation next time we are on the account. This essentially makes us “friends,” like an AIM buddy.
In order for us to talk through the mic, we need to install Google’s mic and video capabilities on your web browser.
o Go to: http://mail.google.com/videochat and click “Install voice and video chat.”
o Follow the prompts; you will have to restart your browser.
You are now setup to chat with us directly over a microphone.
NOTE: Voice and video in Gmail only works with the newer version of Gmail in supported browsers: FF 2.0+, IE 6.0+, Safari 3.0+, and Google Chrome. Note: Voice and video chat has some known compatibility problems with Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard.
