About Our Department
An excellent faculty and an emphasis on undergraduate research give the Biology Department the opportunity to offer a hands-on approach to the biology curriculum. The low faculty-to-student ratio also ensures that the faculty gets to know and work closely with students in the classrooms and teaching laboratories.
The Biology curriculum provides a broad background, with opportunities to focus in the areas of health, environmental biology, and molecular biology.
The faculty has expertise in a variety of areas including biotechnology, neuropharmacology, aquatic ecology, conservation biology, animal behavior, developmental biology, cancer biology, environmental and occupational hygiene, and peptide biochemistry. The faculty is engaged in cutting-edge research and offer many opportunities for independent student research. Not only does this allow students a chance to apply what they have learned in the classroom, but it also prepares them for postgraduate studies and careers in biotechnology, the healthcare industry, and environmental fields.
