Clarkson School Alumni Stories

Michael Grosky, TCS

"All I could think during that year with TCS was, "I should be sitting in a classroom and living at home right now.  Instead I'm living my dreams."  That year marked a turning point for me; an entrance into a place that would open doors to opportunities I never imagined I'd be presented with.  It was great to be surrounded by people I could learn from and grow with.  In the spring of my Clarkson School year, I was fortunate enough to be offered a co-op with GE Aviation.  Since the Clarkson School, I feel fortunate to have been able to take advantage of such a variety of the opportunities Clarkson University has to offer.  In addition to the co-op, I have pledged a business fraternity, joined multiple clubs, and have studied in Europe and Asia.  All of those experiences have shaped the person that I have grown into."

"Currently I am studying for a semester at City University in Hong Kong.  Entering college, I never had the desire to study abroad.  I am very family oriented and couldn't have imagined spending 4 months 8,000 miles away from home.  However, Clarkson gave me the confidence and sense of security that I needed to make take that risk. The Global Business Experience class that Clarkson offers was my first international experience.  We spent 15 days in Singapore, Malaysia, and Hong Kong meeting with 10 different companies.  I then spent the month of July in France studying with students from all over the world at Grenoble Ecole de Management.  Those experiences combined with this semester abroad have opened my eyes to the rest of the world.  When I returned home to the U.S. in August, it was the most amazing feeling to get on facebook and talk to friends from Mexico, Canada, Australia, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Palestine, Pakistan, and Nigeria all while quietly sitting eating breakfast."

"I will be graduating in May with the class of 2010 and I have been thinking of applying to law school or pursue my MBA.  Regardless of my decision, I know that I have a strong foundation to build off of; a foundation that was shaped and solidified by my early experiences with the Clarkson School and my later experiences with Clarkson University."
