The Best Year of His College Life

Clarkson School students run with a pretty good crowd.

Take Jonathan Blackwell '02, for example. He went on to Villanova University, while his roommates left for Georgia Tech, Stanford, and Columbia.

"These students were sought after for their academic excellence and their commitment to their community," Blackwell explains. "After the experience The Clarkson School offers, they are even more driven to succeed."

Blackwell says the faculty and staff at Villanova "were impressed with the maturity and the development I showed in my class work. They felt that I caught on to the material and that I understood what was expected of me. I excelled my first semester and, because of my hard work, I was able to take advanced-level classes my next semesters."

Since graduating with a degree in chemistry (with high honors), he has joined Copperhead Chemical, a manufacturer of nitroglycerin for pills and patches, as well as military-grade explosives. He is also pursuing a master's in chemistry at nearby Lehigh University. Now, he has been accepted into law school and is considering his next step.

"A year at The Clarkson School provides those with bright academic futures an even greater chance of success in life as they learn the responsibility it takes to be a good student, a good friend, and an even better petter," Blackwell says. "I feel Clarkson School students have numerous options when it comes to their academic futures."
