Application Procedure, Nominee Selection and Notification of Acceptance to the Program
For summer 2018, we are continuing to use the electronic applications and forms. However, if you would like copies of the form mailed or emailed to you, please contact our office as soon as possible. A completed application packet contains:
- nomination/application form (Horizons I, Horizons II or Horizons III)
- answers to specific questions geared toward Horizons I or Horizons II
- two recommendation forms (written comments are highly encouraged), one of which must be from a science or math teacher in the nominating school and one from someone (other than a family member) who can ascertain the suitability of the program for the applicant as well as her readiness for a residential program
- a copy of the applicant's year-to-date grade report as well as the grade report from the previous year. Copies of grade reports/transcripts may be mailed to our physical mailing address or scanned and emailed to email@example.com. If submitting via email, please use the following format for the subject line: "Applicant's Last Name, First Name: Transcript for Horizons 2018."
Your completed packet should contain all required documents and be submitted as a single mailing postmarked on or before April 20th, 2018, if you are using paper documents. If you are emailing, everything must be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org by 11:59 p.m. EST on April 20th, 2018.
Unless an exception is granted, we reserve the right not to review applications that are not postmarked by the announced date.
All applicants, accepted or not, and including those who are on wait-list status, will be notified of their status between late April and early May. If the applicant is accepted and chooses not to participate, please notify the director as early as possible so the opportunity can be shared with another candidate.
Wait-listed applicants who move to acceptance status will be notified on or near May 2, 2018, and will receive available unpaid slots. Full tuition is required upon notification of acceptance.
