Dean's List and Presidential Scholars Policy

In this Section

Dean’s List and Presidential Scholars are determined after grades are posted at the end of each semester. Eligibility is determined based on the official grades received for all courses taken that semester – repeating a course that you did poorly in will not change your eligibility for past semesters.

To qualify for Dean’s List a student must be enrolled in at least 14 credits, of which 12 or more must be for a letter grade, and receive no failing grades. A student must earn at least a 3.250 GPA in order to qualify.

To qualify for the Presidential Scholars List, a student must be enrolled in at least 14 credits, of which 12 or more must be for a letter grade, and receive no failing grades. A student must earn at least a 3.800 GPA in order to qualify.

Taken from Clarkson’s Regulations III-Q, Academic Honors

Students who qualify for the Dean’s List will receive notification and a certificate from the office of the Dean of the student’s major.

Students who qualify for the Presidential Scholars List will receive notification from the Office of the President. A letter is mailed to the student’s home address and the students also receive an email notice. Students have the option of receiving a certificate for each semester that they qualify for the Presidential Scholars List, or one certificate at the time of graduation which lists all semesters that they received the honor.

There is no Dean's List or Presidential Scholar list during the summer semester.
