Fun Outside the Lab
I worked hard, but I also goofed around outside my air-conditioned, windowless lab.
Dinner Parties
Every Wednesday, all the REU students got together for dinner. One apartment would cook, everyone else would bring their plates, and a good time was had by all.
Music
There were many good concerts this summer. The Madrid Bluegrass Festival was wonderful, especially the Abrams Brothers. The Ottawa and Montreal Jazz Festivals were filled with free concerts.
Trips
Ottawa is the greatest North American city (next to NYC). It has a great European flavor and lots of Middle Eastern food. The Museum of Civilization is incredible, Parliament is beautiful. Canada Day is now everyone's favorite day.
