On-campus Dining Overview
Every student who lives on-campus has the opportunity to sign up for any one of the meal plan options. All meal plans cost $2,405 per semester which can be changed during the first two weeks of each semester.
The various meal-plan options help you determine your eating habits and daily schedule. There are five different meal plans that you can choose from. For instance, if you eat 15-20 meals each week, then you may want to select the "Gold Meal Plan."
Rather than using cash, Clarkson allows you to use declining balance. Declining balance functions similarly to a bank debit card. Each time you make an order at any of the retail dining locations, the dollar amount is subtracted from your total existing account balance; hence, making your balance decline. Students without any declining balance may purchase it from a cashier anytime and in return save the 7.25% New York State sales tax.
Another option Clarkson's food service provides is the meal exchange program. Meal exchange is campus jargon for a meal eaten at Cheel Main St. Cafe and Bene Pizza in exchange for one of your weekly dining hall meals (3 meals/day during the week, 2 meals/day on the weekend, and 1 meal per meal period).
In addition, meal exchange specials are posted, and you may choose one of these specials as your meal or you can have up to $4.75 ($4.60 at Subway) to order what you want off the regular menu. Anything over will be deducted from your declining balance or requires cash.
