Official Openhouse - September 6, 2001

September 6, 2001 was the official opening of Clarkson's Internet Teaching Laboratory. Over 100 people attended and it was even mentioned in the local newspapers and on local radio broadcasts!

Provost Anthony Collins spoke to kick-off the event and Professor David Powers, Chairman of the Mathematics and Computer Science Department officially opened the lab door. Here is the text of an opening speech given by Professor Jeanna Matthews.

Five Clarkson students, Le-ake Mariam Kristos (seen above in the red hat :-) ), Steve Evanchik, Michael Barrett, Steve Kuhn and Chris Carter gave tours and presented demos to vistors. Other students, including Kieron Hinds, Mike Labriola, Dwight Tuinstra and Rich Bellamy, helped with video taping, picture taking, setting up and directing visitors.

Our ITL plaque was beautifully framed by Leonard Matthews.

Here are some more pictures of the event.

You can even watch the video of the opening and some of the demos given!

Here is the flyer we distributed to the Clarkson community announcing the event.
