Computer Science Research Opportunities
Clarkson combines two distinctive strengths that benefit students: personalized teaching and high-powered research. Access to state-of-the-art computing facilities is critical to your computer science education. At Clarkson, you'll find computer labs for Windows and Unix systems with access to Matlab, Maple and numerous other mathematics and computer science software applications. There are also four dedicated computer science labs, which are are almost entirely student-run:
- Virtual Reality Discovery Lab
- Internet Teaching Lab
- Clarkson Open Source Institute
- Operating Systems Research Lab
The ratio of faculty members to computer science majors is one of the highest in the University, so you can be assured of developing a close working relationship with your professors. In addition to teaching, Clarkson's computer science faculty dedicate time to hardware and software development and publish research for which they have received international recognition. One-on-one projects are common, which allows students a chance to excel in an environment of mentorship and support.
