Where Can Communication Take Me?

Computer-mediated communications are revolutionizing the way we live — and also creating an abundance of new career opportunities. If you're interested in getting involved in this exciting digital world, the Communication program at Clarkson is just what you're looking for. Whether you are creating new materials for the Web, developing digital video, generating interactive multimedia, or simply telecommuting, the better you can use computers as communication tools, the better you will do your job.

At Clarkson, you will do this at a place rich in technology, with other students who are curious, focused and motivated. We offer a curriculum requiring more technical rigor than most other Communication programs, which increases the value of your degree. We won't train you for a particular career or job, but we will provide you with the skills to take advantage of the evolving digital landscape. There is a reason why one out of every seven Clarkson graduates is a CEO, vice president, or business owner.

Companies aggressively pursue our graduates, while others choose to go on their own in the dot.com world. Besides earning consistently high marks in teaching evaluations, our faculty maintains a strong commitment to research, winning awards, and contributing knowledge in this fast-developing field. Current Communication faculty research areas include:

  • Telemedicine
  • Information architecture
  • Corporate universities
  • Information technology
  • Environmental discourse

You can also take advantage of the Center for Excellence in Communication (CEC). This state-of-the-art facility provides a wide variety of computer software and hardware for hands-on learning. CEC equipment includes a communication and technology training classroom, teamwork areas, a digital video production room, a usability testing lab, a writing center, and high-quality video capture and playback capability.
