Biomolecular Engineering Concentration: Research Opportunities
Clarkson combines two distinctive strengths that benefit students: Personalized teaching and high-powered research. With a 15:1 faculty-to-student ratio, our professors get to know students as individuals. They conduct world-class research in areas of vital importance — and involve undergraduates as well as graduate students in the process. Our CAMP (Center for Advanced Materials Processing) building provides an outstanding facility for boundary-spanning research, including 70 state-of-the-art labs. CAMP is designated a New York State Center for Advanced Technology.
Some of the research areas our faculty and students pursue are:
- Bio-sensors
- Bioelectrochemistry
- Models of biosystems
- Applied convective transport processes
- Biodiesel fuel production
- Biomolecular surface immobilization
- Air-pollution monitoring
Students also participate in a wide range of research projects funded by the National Science Foundation and other government and corporate sources. Recent student projects include:
- Modeling Analysis to Determine Source Locations for Air Particles
- Creep in Injection Molded Parts
- Biosensor Development
