Corporate Scholarships & Internships
The Office of Diversity & Inclusion continuously seeks corporate support and external funding in the form of scholarships, co-ops, and commitments to summer internships. This effort occurs in conjunction with the Office of Corporate & Foundation Relations.
The most productive relationships are those in which the corporate liaison becomes involved in the student's academic effort. Such support reinforces, on a year-round basis, the connection between the corporation and the student.
Other Linkages and Activities
Contributions from corporations permit Diversity & Inclusion to offer activities such as pre-orientation for incoming freshman, bus trips for Open House, receptions for parents and students, annual recognition efforts, tutoring, and other functions. Such support is also used to link up with other student organizations on campus to develop opportunities for leadership conferences/seminars/training programs, or address academic challenges.
Some corporations offer expense paid site visits to introduce students to the corporate setting. This is an excellent opportunity for the student and corporation because both will gain insight into the company's operations and students can see and better understand what the company has to offer.
