Why Clarkson? Potsdam has been a place I’ve spent most summers growing up due to both of my parents being from the area, and having family members living here, so I feel at home. In addition, both my brother and father attended Clarkson, so keeping the family tradition going only seemed appropriate. Being part of a new program also was appealing, and having the opportunity to work in a rural type community.
Best part of PA school? The variety of exposure and types of learning we get. Having a close-knit group of students working together in different types of settings makes the vast amount of material somehow manageable to tackle. The opportunity to have simulation, PBL, hospital visits, and classroom learning aid in reaching all learning styles.
Advice to applicants: Know what you’re getting into! You have to be mentally prepared to devote yourself to the program and achieve the end goal. It can be overwhelming at times, but it’s important to keep motivated and positive. It’s crucial to have a good support system and always find time for yourself. It can be challenging, but the knowledge you gain and growth you have is very rewarding.
