Disk Space
1.0 Purpose
To provide the members of the Clarkson community with the guidelines by which additional disk space can be allocated for Faculty, Staff, Students, Departments, and Groups. Since storage resources are not free, and involve more than just the cost of the storage media, it is necessary to charge a fee for storage space beyond the default amounts.
2.0 Scope
This policy covers storage space on Lotus Domino, AFS, and Novell servers. Storage fees not only cover the cost of the physical storage media, but also cover the cost of backup media, and the personnel to service and maintain the equipment.
3.0 Policy
The following default storage limits are placed on all accounts:

Requests for additional storage can be made via the HelpDesk, or an online form. Rates for storage are as follows:
$15.00 per 100 MB per year

Prorated Rates:
Jul & Aug: $15.00
Sep & Oct: $13.00
Nov & Dec: $11.00
Jan & Feb: $10.00
Mar & Apr: $8.00
May & Jun: $6.00
Storage fees include nightly backup of media. Restoration of media is per the OIT backup policy. Users can contact the HelpDesk for restoration.

4.0 Enforcement
All accounts will be held to the default quota. Increasing quota without an IDC (InterDepartmental Charge) will require the signature of the CTO. OIT staff that violate this policy will face discipline up to and including termination.
