As a biology major, you will take 40 credits specifically within biology. These credits, in conjunction with the Clarkson Common Experience, will provide a well-rounded education focusing on the areas of study you find most interesting.

 Core Electives

Students are required to complete the following electives for the biology major.

Biology Elective
Students must complete biology (BY) subject area courses to a total of 40 BY credits (including required courses) - this amounts to 21-23 elective credits.

Lab Elective
Students must complete two biology lab courses at the 200-level or higher (excluding BY405 and BY410).

Mathematics/Computer Science Electives
Students must complete three mathematics or computer science courses at the 100-level or higher, including one calculus course and one statistics course.

Knowledge Area/University Course Electives
Students majoring in biology will have approximately 18 credit hours available to use for Knowledge Area and/or University Course electives.

Free Electives
