Clarkson Opens Doors

Careers. Those of us who have been involved in the exciting field of Global Supply Chain Management (GSCM) for some time, fully recognize the significance of the term “opportunity.” But for new graduates just embarking on professional careers, they are about to be wowed. These fresh thinkers will encounter increased global connectedness and the implications of such interdependence:  environmental considerations (“green supply chain”), regulatory control, international trade policy, volatile markets, and technological advances. Our GSCM students have been well prepared for innovations and leadership in these and other emerging facets of global business.

This month, 170 School of Business and Interdisciplinary Engineering and Management (iE&M) undergraduates and 50 MBA and Engineering & Global Operations Management (EGOM) graduate students will receive their degrees from Clarkson, providing the key, for many, to careers in global supply chain management with some of the world’s leading corporations. The doors are wide open and we share in their excitement as they pass through to the next stage in their professional development. For our part, we must reintegrate the practicality they will experience on the job, combined with cutting-edge research, to continually innovate our own curricula and programs. We look forward to reporting these efforts in future issues of Linkages.
