Motorcycles and Managing Buyer-Supplier Relationships

Our featured new faculty member, Dr. Santosh Mahapatra is currently conducting research with Dr. Paolo Barbieri, Visiting Professor at the Clarkson University School of Business. Dr. Barbieri serves as Assistant Professor of Management Engineering at the Department of Management, University of Bologna (Italy). Their study, in collaboration with Distinguished Professor Ram Narasimhan of Michigan State University, examines the opportunities and challenges in managing buyer-supplier relationships in the high-end, innovative motorcycle industry in Italy.

Paolo Barbieri (left), Santosh Mahapatra (right) Dr. Barbieri’s primary research interests include Purchasing and Supply Chain Management and e-Procurement systems. Since 2004, he has examined the buyer-supplier relationships in manufacturing industries in general, and the automotive industry in particular. He earned BS and MS degrees in Management Engineering from the University of Bologna, and PhD in Management Engineering from the University of Padua, Italy. He teaches Cost Accounting & Organization Management in the Bachelor Program of the Faculty of Engineering, and Supply Chain Management in different Graduate Programs of the Business School of the University of Bologna.
