Clarkson Delivers Customized Executive Seminar to Honeywell

Clarkson University worked with leaders from Honeywell (formerly Hand Held Products) to develop and deliver a customized Executive Seminar in Global Supply Chain Management for 30 mid and senior level managers at the company’s Skaneateles Falls, N.Y. facility in October. This Honeywell division is a worldwide leading manufacturer of data collection and management solutions for in-premise mobile, and transaction processing applications.

Over the course of the four-day seminar, leading faculty from Clarkson’s GSCM program facilitated interactive discussion, introduced hands-on activities, and offered practical tools and approaches to operational issues in supply chain management. The seminar was tailor-fit per Honeywell specifications and covered topics such as total supply chain management costs, approaches to supply chain flexibility, strategic positioning of safety stocks in the supply chain, inventory management, design for supply chain, coping with supply chain disruptions and evaluating supply chain configurations.

“The real pragmatic value of this and other Clarkson customized Executive Seminars is measured in the weeks following the four-day instructional module,” notes Dr. Farzad Mahmoodi, director of Clarkson’s GSCM Programs. In their final assignment, seminar participants worked in teams to apply the knowledge gained during the four-day module to solve real problems within the company. Clarkson faculty remained accessible remotely in the weeks following, serving in a consulting role to ensure the success of the team projects. Seminar faculty then returned to Honeywell in November for team presentations and to assess the potential impacts of the proposed approaches on Honeywell’s global supply chain.
