Darie Appointed Assistant Professor of Biochemistry at Clarkson University

Costel C. Darie has been appointed assistant professor of chemistry and biomolecular science at Clarkson University. He began teaching last month.

Darie received his bachelor of science and master of science degrees in biochemistry at Cuza University in Romania, and his Ph.D. in biochemistry from the University of Freiburg in Germany. Darie also received a nursing degree at Vaslui County Hospital, Romania.

Before coming to Clarkson, Darie was a postdoctoral associate at Mount Sinai School of Medicine, a research scientist at the Skirball Institute at New York University and an associate scientist at Mount Sinai.

His research interests include protein-protein interactions, cellular signaling, cancer, serum biomarkers, proteomics and immunotherapy.

Darie has coauthored 17 professional articles and has had a number of abstracts, posters and oral presentations. He is a member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Chemical Society, the American Society for Mass Spectrometry, the Romanian Society for Mass Spectrometry and the New York Academy of Sciences.
