Clarkson University graduate students Sasikala Manthena and Guan Zhao were both recipients of prizes from the American Association for Aerosol Research (AAAR) for poster presentations of their research projects at the AAAR annual meeting.
This is the first year that the AAAR has held the poster contest. The awards were given at the organization’s annual meeting, which took place in Orlando in October. After the judges reviewed approximately 200 posters covering a wide range of topic areas, they chose 10 students as recipients based on technical merit and communication effectiveness, two of whom were Clarkson students.
Manthena, a civil engineering graduate student from India, won with her poster, titled "Estimation of PM Exposure from Human Activities on Real Floorings." She worked under the guidance of Assistant Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering Andrea Ferro.
Zhao, a mechanical engineering graduate student from China, won with his poster, titled "High Flow Rate Aerodynamic Lens System," and worked under Associate Professor of Mechanical & Aeronautical Engineering Suresh Dhaniyala and Bayard D. Clarkson Distinguished Professor Philip Hopke.
