Faraz Hussain has been appointed assistant professor of electrical & computer engineering at Clarkson University.
He received his bachelor of engineering degree in computer science with honors from the Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, India, his master of science degree in computer science from the Iowa State University, and his Ph.D., also in computer science, from the University of Central Florida.
Before coming to this position, he was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Utah. Prior to that, he had research internships at SRI International in California and at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research in India.
His research interests include programming languages, software engineering & formal methods, automated verification & synthesis of probabilistic systems, applied bioinoformatics & computational biology, parallel & distributed computing, computer science education, and systems & application software.
Hussain has teaching experience from the University of Central Florida and Iowa State University. He has published numerous journal articles and conference papers and given talks at a number of professional gatherings. He also has a record of professional service to the community as a conference reviewer and journal referee.
He received the Best Paper Award for his paper titled “Parameter Discovery for Stochastic Computational Models in Systems Biology Using Bayesian Model Checking” at the 4th International IEEE Conference on Computational Advances in Bio and Medical Sciences held in Miami Beach, Florida in 2014.
Hussain has been a recipient of a number of awards at the University of Central Florida, including a Graduate Research Excellence Fellowship, the Provost’s Graduate Fellowship, and the Graduate Dean’s Dissertation Completion Fellowship.
His professional affiliations include the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the Association for Computer Machinery (ACM), and Sigma Xi.
