Five Clarkson University faculty members were honored at a May 10 recognition ceremony for their excellence in the classroom and dedication to mentoring students.
Jean S. Newell Distinguished Professor of Engineering / Co-Director of CARES Thomas Holsen received the Outstanding Advisor Award. Each year students recognize a faculty member who has excelled at this critical academic responsibility.
Assistant Professor of Physics Jan Scrimgeour received the Outstanding New Teacher Award. This award recognizes teachers in their first four years at Clarkson. Students choose the recipients for their excellence in the classroom, capacity to inspire students, and creativity in teaching and curriculum development.
The Clarkson University Student Association members present the Outstanding Teacher Award each year to a professor who not only teaches, but inspires. The 2017 Outstanding Teaching Award was presented to Associate Professor of Mechanical & Aeronautical Engineering Marcias Martinez.
Assistant Professor of Humanities JoAnn Rogers received the Residence Hall Association Faculty Award. Chosen by students, this award honors a faculty member who exemplifies service, going above and beyond the call of duty to add to the prosperity and environmental health of the campus community.
Assistant Professor of Electrical & Computer Engineering Chen Liu received the Tau Beta Pi Faculty Award. Clarkson's NY-Theta chapter presents this award annually to a faculty member who has embodied and instilled in students the ideals of integrity and excellence in engineering.
