Daved Barry has been appointed the Reh Family Endowed Chaired Professor, Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Clarkson University's David D. Reh School of Business.
Barry has extensive teaching experience at the doctoral, master, and undergraduate levels, and within executive education.
Before coming to Clarkson, he was professor of creative organization studies at Jönköping University International Business School (JIBS), Professor of Organizational Studies at Copenhagen Business School; Banco BPI Chair of Creative Organization Studies at Universidade Nova de Lisboa; and held a national chair in Management Studies at Victoria University in New Zealand.
His research focuses on how design, art, and the humanities can be applied to innovation, entrepreneurship, organizational design, workplace development, change, and strategy. Along these lines, he is interested in how studio-based pedagogies can be used within management education.
He co-developed the business studio at Copenhagen Business School and the Digital Business Studio at JIBS. The latter is a blended studio (a mix of digital and physical platforms) devoted to digital business innovation and entrepreneurship that works with multiple faculties within Jönköping University and numerous organizations in and beyond Sweden.
In his new role at Clarkson, he will help progress Clarkson’s Innovation Hub and explore how studio methods can be applied to innovation education.
Barry received his bachelor of arts degree in psychology and his Ph.D. in strategic management and organizational behavior from the University of Maryland.
He has published in the leading management journals, including Academy of Management Review, Organization Studies, Organization Science, Journal of Management Studies, Journal of Organizational Change Management, Human Relations, Journal of Management Inquiry, and Management Communication Quarterly; edited several textbooks; and co-led several of the world’s leading management conferences.
